ERROR BY ASSOCIATION

By B R Sundara Rajan

Key point: As teachers we are often conditioned by our own assumptions.

Once a teacher in a primary class asked a student to make a sentence beginning with I.

The student started with, “I is…”.
The teacher quickly corrected him and said “I am..”
The student again started with “I is..”, to which the teacher snapped “I am…” impatiently.
The student then said, “All right have it your way. I am the ninth letter of English alphabet!”
